SUNDAY Artist Q&A with Josh Upton

Why are you a photographer?

I’m drawn to photography as a way to communicate mood, attitude and identity. It allows me to combine my interest in fashion, culture and storytelling, and to create images that feel considered and intentional.

What made you want to become a fashion photographer?

I was first drawn to fashion photography through 90s fashion campaigns, a lot of Armani and Calvin Klein ads. Imagery felt confident, simple and powerful without being overworked.

What do you love most about photography?

I love the collaborative nature of photography. Working with stylists, models and creatives to build a shared vision. I also enjoy how photography can capture character, movement and presence in a way that feels honest and expressive.

Who are some of the clients you worked with in 2025?

In 2025, I worked with brands and publications including Hugo Boss, Armani, British GQ and Arsenal, collaborating with a range of creatives, talent and teams across fashion and sport.

What can clients expect when working with you?

Clients can expect a collaborative and considered process, with clear direction and attention to detail.
